Over the past five months year-on-year, the revenue for movies on the silver screen displays a 5 percent increase leading to nearly 2,000 billion rials worth of ticket sales, a local media report said on Thursday.

The top-grossing film of the past five months includes Saman Moqaddam’s comedy ‘Sperm Whale 2’ grossing over USD 5.2 million.

The second and third highest-grossing movies, respectively, were ‘Patrol 2’ by Saeid Soheili at over USD 5.1 million and ‘The Good, the Bad, the Corny’ by Peyman Qasemkhani at over USD 4.2 million.

Last year, Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-winning movie ‘The Salesman’ took the top-grossing claim, followed by director Manouchehr Hadi’s comedy ‘I Am Not Salvador’ and Qorban Mohammadpur’s melodrama ‘Salaam Mumbai’.
